Dancers ages 8 to 18 bring to life a newly imagined version of this famous narrative ballet (Coppélia, 1870) which was based on an even older story (The Sandman, 1817). That’s what art does. Evolves. Changes. Adapts.

Life is always full of surprises. For many reasons, there are people in our lives who are not like us. If we look past those differences, even for the slightest bit of time, we can discover that we are so much more the same than we are different. The clothes we wear, the language we speak, or the customs we celebrate can all be reasons to start a conversation. What’s on the inside is more important than

what’s on the outside. Like a book.  Like a person. Here’s to more reading and conversations leading to more knowing and appreciating. In other words, it’s important not to judge a book by its cover. This lesson is beautifully brought to life in the Chicago Ballet Center adaptation of Coppélia. We hope you can join us.
